As this winter storm hits, we have again asked FEMA to extend its temporary shelter assistance for a few more days. Even if someone’s home is ready to be reoccupied, we don’t want them on the road during the storm, and above all, people have to be warm and safe.
If you have been in temporary assistance in a hotel and your house is not ready, and you have not been able to secure alternative housing options, call FEMA’s hotline at 1-800-621-3362.
I have also created a state temporary travel trailer program to get people into safe, warm places to live on their own properties as they rebuild. Call 1-844-746-2326 if you are in need. We are committed to doing everything we can to do right by the people of western North Carolina.
If you know of anyone working in a hotel ask for this information to be slipped under the doors of the people staying on FEMA vouchers.
This buys a bit of time but the need is still here!
