Winter Storm Watch: Prepare for Extreme Cold and Wintry Weather!
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch expected to start Friday morning and continue through Saturday. Expect wintry precipitation, extreme cold, and slick roads.
Here’s how to stay safe and prepared:
Stay indoors and dress warmly.
Stock up on essential supplies: pet food, medications, batteries, flashlights, blankets, and non-perishable food.
Prepare for power outages. Charge your devices and use generators outdoors only.
Fill bathtubs or containers with water for cleaning and flushing in case of outages.
Bring pets inside and ensure they have enough food and water.
Protect pipes: open cabinet doors to expose them to heat, let faucets drip slowly, and set your thermostat to at least 55°F—even if you’re away.
Keep extra blankets, a first aid kit, and a fully charged portable power bank handy.
Swipe through the graphics on this post and screenshot the important numbers you need to know in bad weather.
Health and Safety Reminders:
– Watch for hypothermia (intense shivering, slowed heart rate, blue skin) and frostbite (numbness, pale or grayish skin). Seek medical attention if needed.
-Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning: Never use grills, camp stoves, or generators indoors.
